Tales to Astonish #43, published in May 1963, is a comic book issue written by Stan Lee and Larry Lieber, with artwork by Don Heck. This issue features Ant-Man confronting Professor Elias Weems, a disgruntled scientist who uses a device to age people rapidly as part of his plot for revenge.

Plot Summary:

The story introduces Professor Elias Weems, a brilliant but aging scientist who is suddenly fired from his job due to his age. Filled with bitterness and resentment, Weems feels that society has discarded him, and he decides to use his scientific knowledge to exact revenge on the world that he believes wronged him.

Weems invents a machine that can accelerate the aging process, turning young people into elderly individuals in mere moments. He begins testing his device in public, targeting random citizens to demonstrate his newfound power. Weems soon issues a public threat: unless his demands are met, he will use his invention to rapidly age everyone, starting with city leaders.

Ant-Man becomes aware of Weems’ activities and vows to stop him. However, Weems' machine proves dangerous even to the hero, as a confrontation leaves Ant-Man momentarily weakened after being hit by the device. Despite this setback, Ant-Man tracks down Weems, following a series of aging incidents across the city.

As Weems prepares to age the mayor during a public demonstration, Ant-Man arrives in time to intervene. Using his size-changing abilities, Ant-Man sabotages Weems' aging machine, rendering it useless. In a final confrontation, Ant-Man shrinks down and disables Weems’ controls, bringing the villain’s plot to a halt.

In the aftermath, Weems is remorseful, explaining that he only wanted to prove his worth and never intended for anyone to suffer. Moved by his plea, Ant-Man convinces the authorities to show leniency, and Weems is taken into custody with the possibility of rehabilitation. The issue ends on a hopeful note, with Weems given a chance to redeem himself.

Tales to Astonish #44, published in June 1963, is a comic book issue written by Stan Lee and H.E. Huntley, with artwork by Don Heck. This issue introduces a key figure in Ant-Man's lore: the debut of the Wasp. Together, Ant-Man and the Wasp face off against the villain Pilai, an alien creature from another dimension.

Plot Summary:

The story begins with scientist Henry Pym, also known as Ant-Man, reflecting on his crime-fighting career. However, a new threat emerges when an alien creature named Pilai arrives on Earth from a parallel dimension. Pilai is a scout, sent to prepare for an invasion of Earth, and possesses advanced abilities, making him a formidable adversary.

At the same time, Pym meets Janet van Dyne, the daughter of his late colleague Vernon van Dyne. Janet is determined to help Pym bring justice to the world and avenge her father’s death. Recognizing her potential, Pym decides to share his secret identity as Ant-Man with her. He equips Janet with a similar shrinking suit and teaches her how to control a pair of insect wings, giving her the identity of the Wasp.

Meanwhile, Pilai begins preparing Earth for an invasion by causing chaos and sabotaging key infrastructure. Ant-Man and the Wasp team up for the first time to track down Pilai. Using their size-changing abilities, they manage to infiltrate Pilai’s hideout, where they discover his plans for an alien invasion.

In a tense battle, Pilai’s superior strength proves challenging for the duo, but Ant-Man’s quick thinking and Wasp’s agility allow them to hold their own. Together, they manage to disable the alien technology that Pilai was using to open a dimensional gateway for his people.

With his plans thwarted, Pilai attempts to escape back to his dimension. Ant-Man and the Wasp, however, manage to trap him on Earth, where he is unable to continue his invasion. The issue ends with Ant-Man and the Wasp solidifying their partnership as crime-fighting heroes, setting the stage for future adventures.
